What Is Stem Cell Breast Augmentation?

Many women who are unhappy with the size of their chest often consider a surgical solution to their problem. However, some are afraid of the high costs and health risks associated with normal breast augmentation surgeries. Many women also dislike the idea of having an unnatural substance implanted into their body.

In recent years, however, one of these concerns has been eliminated. Doctors in the UK began experimenting with “fat-transfer” breast augmentation a few years ago, a procedure which involves removing fat cells from one part of the patient’s body and re-injecting that fat directly into the breast. For many women, this was a perfect solution – they could instantly rid themselves of stubborn fat from their belly, hips, buttocks, or thighs and get larger, fuller breasts at the same time! Who wouldn’t want that?

Stem Cells Or Fat Transfer?

Sadly, fat transfer breast augmentation isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. More often than not, the fat which gets injected into the breasts is re-absorbed by the body. So over time, the actual size increase could decline to as little as 30%, and in some rare cases you may lose all visible gains in breast size and firmness. This can be fixed with repeat procedures, but this just adds higher costs and higher medical risks.

However, thanks to stem-cell technology, the efficacy of this procedure may be on the rise. Additionally, the need to keep going back for repeat procedures may decrease sharply, or disappear altogether. The name of this new procedure is called “Stem Cell Breast Augmentation”, and it is gaining popularity both in the US and abroad.

If you are curious about this type of surgery, make sure you find a good board-certified plastic surgeon who is familiar with the procedure and the technology involved. Because it is a relatively new procedure and many women don’t completely understand how it works, it could be easy to get charged extra for what someone is calling a stem cell breast augmentation when in reality it is nothing more than a simple fat transfer procedure.

The Problem With Surgeons

The most important question you can ask your surgeon is how he or she plans to harvest the stem cells. For an effective procedure, harvesting the stem cells should be a separate, distinct process from just harvesting fat cells. Or your doctor may have their own supply of stem cells which they incorporate into your harvested fat.

The point of using stem cells instead of just plain old fat is because stem cells are special. When your body needs to make a new type of cell, whether it’s for your skin, bones, blood, or fat, you need stem cells so that your body knows how to make more of what it needs. Therefore, the more stem cells you inject into your breast, the more fat cells they will produce, maintaining your gains for longer.

The Issue With Stem Cell Breast Augmentation

There are two main types of stem cells: embryonic stem cells, which are considered controversial by certain special interest groups, and adult stem cells. Adult stem cells are used more often because they can be harvested from living individuals, and often from the person who requires stem cell treatment in the first place. This reduces the likelihood that the stem cells will be rejected, and it also reduces the physical side effects in the patient.

While Stem Cell Breast Augmentation seems like a safe and natural means to enlarge your bust, it is still a costly, complicated procedure which still carries associated health risks to it. And there’s still a very real chance that your gains will only be temporary. For safe, natural alternatives to surgery, click here!
